Omaha makes solid economic activity gain among metro areas

According to an On Numbers analysis of U.S. Census Bureau data, thirty percent of all major metro areas posted an increase in private-sector business activity between 2009 and 2010.

In a sign of the resurgent economy,  among the 100 largest major metro areas, 22 areas posted private sector gains. The move is a strong showing considering in 2009 only 3 major metro areas posting a gain the previous year.

The Omaha metro area posted a solid gain among major markets, with private sector businesses growing 1.02 percent from 22,066 businesses in 2009 to 22,291 in 2010.
