Goodwill generates jobs
Thanks to Goodwill of the Great Plains, 1,000 people in Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota and Minnesota have found jobs. That’s a 236-percent increase over 2012, according to officials at the Sioux City, Iowa-based agency.
The majority of the jobs are in the areas of retail, hotel, manufacturing, janitorial and food service.
A Goodwill representative attributed the increase to the eight connection centers opened in the last two years across the agency’s service area. Those centers offer free computer access, employment resources and opportunities for online training. The connection centers are located inside Goodwill retail stores and funded by donations and retail sales receipts.
