Metropolitan Community College ramps up job training

Metropolitan Community College has broken ground on a $90 million expansion at its Fort Omaha campus in North Omaha with the goal of consolidating job training programs now spread throughout the system at one campus.

Three new campus buildings will house an academic skills center, the Center for Advanced and Emerging Technology and the Construction Education Center.

New programs, new equipment and new methodology will be used to train for jobs in the trades and technology fields for the jobs of the future.

Welding, HVAC programs, IT and critical facilities management are among the fields of job training degrees to be offered.

Omaha’s job creation projections indicate construction, professional services and the trades will be among the top jobs by 2020. MCC’s training programs will be designed to accommodate Omaha’s future jobs needs.
