Blighted area of Omaha set for renovation, expansion

An innovative project near downtown Omaha will revitalize an ailing neighborhood, bringing construction jobs and, eventually, new residents. The $20 million project is led by Nebraska native Ndamukong Suh, who plays in the NFL for the Detroit Lions. He is principal of TFL Development, which is working with Arch Icon to complete the project.

Work is beginning this month on the redevelopment of 95,000 square feet in the area for the apartments. It will offer the first 65 apartments in mid-2015. Another 88 apartments will be completed in 2016. The developers hope to lure downtown workers, young professionals and students looking for an urban residence.
