Second ALDI opens in Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. – Discount grocery chain ALDI opened its second Lincoln store in as many weeks.

The chain has a presence in Omaha, but opened its first Lincoln store in September at 27th Street and Yankee Hill Road. A second ALDI opened in early December at 84th and O Street.

ALDI is known for its sparse layouts, selection of private-label inventory, and a charge for use of a shopping basket and grocery bags. Customers are encouraged to bring their own bags from home to help keep costs low.

Both stores were announced earlier this year. The company said Lincoln is its first new market in a division that covers Arkansas, Missouri, Nebraska and Oklahoma.
