That number is revised from the 2.9 percent that was previously reported. It also is a decline from a year ago when the unemployment rate was 3.4 percent.
The labor department reported the state’s nonfarm employment was at 982,468 in January, an increase of nearly 12,000 from a year ago. The industries that posted the most job gains were education, health services, professional service and business services.
