Cabela’s growing both near and far

SIDNEY, Neb. — In the midst of an aggressive nationwide expansion, Cabela’s also is expanding at its home base in Sidney.

The outdoor retailer is spending $34 million to expand its headquarters building. About a quarter of Sidney’s workforce is employed there. The continued investment in the community has not only helped the local economy, but also eased fears that it could pick up and go elsewhere.

In addition to investments around the city, Cabela’s completed a $9 million renovation to its facilities in 2013 in its original office space. The company is on track to triple its number of stores in the United States and Canada.
